Re: Spacing problem
I don't see any problem, but yes, it is difficult to make it "better".
What is the spacing algorithm? Try using √2 (Sqr root of 2), instead of typically φ (Golden ratio).

Re: SCORE terrible glyphs
@benwiggy what is the staff size of the example with tie? Looks to me as a very small staff (because of the tie's curves). Yes, it's an orchestral score, so fairly small. right, that's why SCORE makes it look so "bad" when zoomed in. SCORE actually rounds vector points to the closest adju...

Re: Alternative to CutePDF - for macOS
I see. 200€ for a PDF application that will put page numbers seems overkill. I might just go to Windows for that purpose (a bit awkward).
have anyone used the online version of CutePDF? It can do the same things online.
Acrobat can't do everything, you still need a sub.

Re: SCORE terrible glyphs
I believe you can choose the number of vector nodes in SCORE itself, because not all SCORE made scores look like this. Also, the laser print jet can "round" the vector graphics and these mistakes actually vanish. And yes, SCORE doesn't use fonts at all. It uses the vector graphic output wh...

Re: Hierachy of text expressions
yes, that's horizontal, but if they need to be placed vertically? am I to presume that the order would be highest to lowest (from left to right in this list)? so: Tutti div. arco sul pont. ? Yes, I think this is a good way. And it this order, because we go from general to more specific instructions...
