Re: Beethoven Brainteaser 3
Firstly, there doesn't seem to be any visual reason why Beethoven might have meant to write these few bars in the treble clef. Secondly, the sudden descent to low register in the LH here, rather than a little later, seems altogether too effective to be an error, especially without any actual evidenc...

Re: Dorico development issue
I've always (since my teens in the 1950s) labelled instrument changes twice. Initially at the first available rest with ‘take Cor Anglais’ (or whatever) and then again (without ‘take’) immediately before or at the first playing of the new instrument. I can't remember which orchestral player advised ...

Looking at notes to the recent Bärenreiter edition, I see some people do believe clefs are missing. Why?

Re: unison wih different value noteheads, question
Is this for the score only, with two staves in the part? Or is it like this for both score and part? I think I'd just have the one sharp if I were doing it myself, but I can't say with confidence whether or not this is strictly correct (obviously if the part is on two staves they will both need the ...

Re: Specific chord voicings in a lead sheet
A post script … … … … … … And, there's something about notation which brings out a pretty assertive side of the human personality. This does indeed seem to be the case. Although on this forum people usually remain courteous, there are sometimes cases of bad manners worthy of Twitter (sorry ‘X’) ...

Re: Behind Bars - "General Conventions"
FWIW I live in Scotland but was at school in England, most notably from the age of 13–17 (1954–1958) here https://www.wellingtoncollege.org.uk/ (in those days it was boys only). Perhaps it's a generational thing, but in the very active music department at that school I never once heard anybody use ‘...

Re: Dorico v Finale advice?
Just a little update: I've decided to pull back from this plan, for now anyway: more in due course.

Re: Dorico v Finale advice?
Thank you both for your advice. Fred, would ‘Condensing Change’ be a possible way of dealing with Michel's problem here https://notat.io/viewtopic.php?t=990 ? It looks like a very useful facility, but no doubt it has its limitations. My smaller scale projects of the moment all seem to be ‘art songs’...
