Hi everybody,
do I have to repeat the after the double barline in the middle of m. 43? I think so but I’m not 100% sure.
And how about accidentals after line breaks in the middle of a measure?
Cheers,
Malte

Partial measures: bar numbering and volta repeats
Hi everybody, I’m setting some piano variations and have some questions about partial measures: If a variation ends with a full measure and the next starts with an anacrusis, how should the anacrusis be numbered? In my case, the last measure of var. VII (numbered 131) is full, so I’m not sure whethe...

Re: Where to put this dot?
The second option looks most logical to me (and to LilyPond, it’s the default behaviour), however there is a third option:
Edit: You might argue that the dot is ambiguous but who would really expect a dotted sixteenth under these circumstances (4/4 time, “default” beaming of 16 16ths, …)- 28 Nov 2019, 20:37

Re: Has anyone read the following books? (Boustead, Mender, Chlapik)
I read Chlapik a while ago but none of the others so I cannot compare (only parts of Gould and some pages of Read)

Re: Octave transposing clef design?
I'm working with a composer who is making extensive use of octave transposing treble and bass clefs in a solo piano piece. Verwenden Sie diese Schlüssel nicht für tatsächlich vom Spieler geforderte Oktavierungen (wie etwa Britten es in seinen späten Stücken tat, vor allem bei Klavier und Harfe)! Di...

Re: Suggestions for my score.
Did you add many layout tweaks? (f. e. increase the minimum word space) IMO the horizontal spacing looks unusually bad; some examples: m. 7, 9, 16, 17, 34, 35, 36. I know that LilyPond doesn’t handle vocal note spacing really well in crowded situations because the lyrics aren’t flexible at all but h...

Re: Community creates a textual font
The letter f needs some work too: The lower serif is too low (compare with hmnr), also the horizontal bars of t and f don’t align.

Re: Wither engraving skills?
The Finale course? I’ve attended only the first few lessons* which taught only how the software works. I don’t know whether something like engraving rules would be covered in later lessons. I’ll try to teach some basic engraving rules like notation of rests in different meters in my LilyPond worksho...

Re: Wither engraving skills?
At my university in Germany there is a Finale course but AFAIK it aims at beginners. And I’ve seen some of our composition student’s scores which look terrible; last year I refused to premiere a piano solo work because the score (made with Sibelius) was unreadable. Currently there is a discussion wh...

Re: Very Short Octave Sign Rant
Any opinions, or better, sources? The numbers without letters will be default, so my question is mainly about the default alignments for bars 1 to 4:
