Font / engraving help for a music video

Post by ClaybrookMusic »

Hi, everyone. I have an interesting challenge that I know you folks can help with.

I want to create a music video that features a fake hymnal page. I want to arrange my indie rock/folk song as if it's a hymn that's been ripped out of an old hymnal. I'd love to get as close as possible to the attached image.

My main question is what musical font and text font will get me the closest? I'm a very occasional and novice Sibelius user. I don't have Finale anymore.

Any help is appreciated!

There are some nice fonts that are available for Finale, and you could imitate the picture above. Check Gutenberg font at https://elbsound.studio/music-font-comparison.php
Than you need to export it and edit background in some picture editor, perhaps to add some filters to mimic an old sheet.

I am not sure how to do that in Sibelius.

Thank you OCTO. I had a colleague arrange the song in Finale. But he was unable to get the Gutenberg font to work.

Would anyone be willing to help me out? I have the Finale file. Could someone who has either the Gutenberg Free or Gutenberg1939 font convert it and export it for me?

I'd be willing to buy the Gutenberg1939 font for someone in exchange for giving me an exported pdf.

Let me know if you are willing.

Which font does he have (or rather, where did he get it)? Which version of Finale did he try it with?

I am the font creator and it works fine for me in Finale 2014.5+. Which version of Finale is the file from? PM me.

The following fonts are a good alternative to mimic the look above:
- SWMusic (nearly 100% identical with the image above, but very difficult to implement in Finale, http://www.fontsner.com/font/SWMusic-70683.html)
- Burnside (from https://www.fontshop.com/families/burnside/buy , available for Finale )
- Capella-1900 (from Capella)
- Gutenberg1939 (www.musictypefoundry.com) or the free Gutenberg look-alike for Finale GtbrgFIN ( https://elbsound.studio/elbsound-music- ... finale.php )
- Diamond Music No.1 (see http://www.maxkeenlyside.ca/diamondmusicno1-1.pdf )
