Re: Tantacrul video on Finale

It's entertaining (for a while), although maybe a bit exaggerated about some things. eg As I'm sure you remember, it's easy enough (not obvious, I agree) to change a font globally in Finale via the menu Document>Data Check>Font Utilities, but in his video he makes a great jokey performance of not b...

Re: Music Theory Forum?

It’s quite difficult to find a theory forum that is at a higher level; most discussions are typically started by amateur musicians or students.
One that is fine is at Talk Classical: https://www.talkclassical.com/forums/music-theory.17/

Re: Score Modern - a text font

I'm vacillating between really liking the noteheads and not liking them. Very clear to read! Yes, I understand the feeling!  I have finally come to accept it as the best half notehead shape.  As far as I understand, it’s essentially derived from SCORE. OCTO, your fonts are always on point! You’re m...

Score Modern - a text font

It is closely related to the main font in LaTeX, Computer Modern, thus name Score Modern . It is designed so that it can be read from distance, somehow "punched". It is also similar to Old Music Standard . I have tested it so far in Sibelius on MacOS. Give a try and let me know what you th...

Re: Confusing minim and crotchet combination

A composer must exactly follow notation rules, just as in mathematics.
Here is an example of voicing in Scriabin's Sonata No. 7. While it may first seem illogical, an 'aha!' moment is what comes afterwards! The total number of voices is—five.

Re: time signature font or symbol

I'm looking for a font or simple symbols that I can use in text layout programs for time signatures. They are surprisingly hard to find, even in the several music fonts I have. TIA It depends. What typesetting software do you use? If you are serious about the outcome, I would recommend using LaTeX....
