What paper to use for printing
If they're is a need, I print music for "my" orchestra. For this I have a professional A4/A3 laser printer, a saddle stapler, paper block cutter, ring and spiral binder etc. Normally I print on 90g/m2 white paper but it's somehow too white and almost blinding in strong stage light. Hence, ...

Re: First MuseScore experience
@benwiggy Maybe, I wasn't sure when I made my posting but if somebody can do it, just move it. Anyway, thanks for the replies. Maybe a remark, when I engrave something, I obviously tries too get it as correct and nice as possible but not necessarily for publication but for "my" symphony or...

First MuseScore experience
Having used Lilypond for engraving music for years, I decided to give MuseScore (today 4.2) a try for a piece we are going to play at our next summer concert. It's not very long, 74 bars but with 29 instruments, among these, 2 harps. I've a relatively bad x-times printed/copied score, the instrument...

Re: Behind Bars - "General Conventions"
GB English versus US English. In Sweden all movies have subtitles, i.e. you get trained listening to English very early in life and at the same time get the translation written in the subtitle. Now, at the university, in parallel to engineering I studied English. The first exam I failed miserably wi...

Re: Affinity Suite version 2
I've never used Affinity so I'm not really the best to comment on this. However, just for information, I'm using FrameMaker when writing complex (regarding layout, pictures, plots, graphics, dynamic links to embed data from databases, spreadsheets, other documents, etc) and in particular for large d...

I've modified (tweak) it a little. Do you think this distance is sufficient?
And while I'm t, I check if I can get a good solution for the two other points from John as well.- 21 Apr 2023, 15:29

Re: Engraving Stenhammars Interlude from Cantata The Song (Sången) - Final
First of all, thanks for comments and suggestions. Sorry I’m late with my reply but I’ve been bogged down in other issues related to some of the scientific satellites I’ve been working on prior retirement. @ John 1. Tenuto indications This is in fact a “generic” Lilypond problem. I’m going to write ...

Engraving Stenhammars Interlude from Cantata The Song (Sången) - Final
First of all, I would like to thank you a lot for all good suggestions for improving my engraving of Stenhammar’s Interlude (see previous posting https://notat.io/viewtopic.php?t=940 ). Eventually I came around to finalise and fine tune the engraving. For your information, I’ve attached the score to...

Re: Beams in 6/8
While not being an engraving expert, it's what I would expect to see in orchestra music. Violin in my case.
