Re: A Swedish Song From 1903
Is anyone bothered by some of the idiosynchrasies of the music typeface (maybe it's just me)? The :n4 in the time signature being too low; :3r being slightly too low; :n looking a bit "crooked"; and especially the weird looking connection of the upstem flags with the note head ... I'm gen...

Re: Lyric font size?
David, yours looks just fine to me. As long as the x-height (as font designers call it) is close to 1 staff space, it should look normal to the eye. Slightly larger or smaller no problem, as long as it’s within +/- 5%.

Oh! Well that certainly is odd, then. Does make you wonder if it was intentional or just oversight.

Re: dots and triplets
I’m no expert by any means, but in all my time of scanning through music, I feel like this falls on the omission side. I’ve seen many scores that will indicate such triplets for a few bars and then omit the 3 for any similar passage afterwards. Either way, it’s certainly confusing as it currently st...

Re: New treble clef
Dan, you are endeavoring to do something even more challenging than most attempt. When staying within the world of music symbols, you can take a lot of liberties when it comes to creating a cohesive design because most symbols don't have a lot of similarities. However, when trying to match up to a t...

Re: Drawing treble clefs
Not only is the Treble clef hard to draw with Bezier curves, it's the hardest, period. Keep practicing. You'll get better. I've developed a few strategies over the years, which remain pretty consistent across styles. The one thing my "strategies" can't do for you, though, is give you a bet...

Re: MusGlyphs: type music glyphs into text
Abraham: can I adjust these values in the font to prevent the cropping? For sure. I strongly encourage you to. Take a look at this tutorial that talks all about these vertical font metrics and why you'd choose one value over another for each to make the font behave appropriately. https://www.high-l...

This is probably the two OS/2 metrics called “Win Ascent” and “Win Descent”. If these numbers are too small, you will see clipping like this, regardless of point size. This doesn’t seem to be an issue outside of Windows.
