Re: Bowing guidelines
Take it from a long-time orchestral librarian: Never mark bowings in the part - even if you are a string player. Every concertmaster and/or conductor has their own ideas about how to achieve a particular effect or phrasing, and this saves the librarian from having to mark over printed bowings. On ex...

Re: Note spacing - voice collision in Dorico?
Actually, I like Finale's spacing better, provided you move both sixteenth A's a bit to the right. The Dorico spacing of the bottom staff too irregular for me.

Re: Dorico
My apologies if my post was confusing or inaccurate, about moving notes horizontally in Sibelius. I don't know the program (although I explored it pretty well in version 2, most of which I've forgotten), but got the impression that the feature was only added in v. 8 from Philip Rothman's blog: http...

Yes, as far as I can remember. Sibelius 1 appeared (in the US) in the mid-90's.John Ruggero wrote:

Re: Dorico
As far as I can remember, it was possible to drag notes in Sibelius from the outset (Version 1).

Re: Dorico
jrethorst, I didn't realize that about Sibelius, but it fits my impression of the philosophy behind the program. In Finale, notes have been movable horizontally since I started using the program in the late 1990's and there are (at least) three different ways (tools) to do it. That's one reason I u...

Re: [Finale] The most complex orc. score?
A question to engravers that deals with numerous staves (large orchestra files, numerous divisis):
Do you first work in Scroll View and than when everything is typed, move to Page View?
------------------------------------------------
Yes. Staff sets can be a big help.
