Dorico 4.3 released

Post by benwiggy »

Dorico 4.3 has just been released, with some nice new features.

The headline is "Notes From Chords", in which harmony will be constructed across instruments from chord symbols!

The revisions to the MIDI Editor have been completed, allowing MIDI data to be edited for multiple instruments, or multiple CC lanes at once.

In notation, there's now Alt U to split a single note into smaller divisions. Clef changes and Repeats made to selections will automatically include "closing" clefs/repeats at the end of the selection. There's also properties to hide noteheads, as well as stems.

Force Duration is now 'sticky': it will stay on until you turn it off.

Lyrics now have options for default alignment, including system start; also you can export the text (without hyphens!)

Improvements to barlines (including 'tick' barlines), bar numbering, tremolos, percussion, condensing, rehearsal marks, etc, etc.

As ever, lots of little things make a huge difference: the system and fullness percentages are now shown in the 'graphical' Engrave mode, making it easier to see which systems might need a manual break.

There's now a 'maintenance' update, 4.3.11, which fixes and finishes off a variety of little issues arising. As per the blog, this should now end the v4 cycle.
