Could anyone provide an example or two of the notation for turning the handle of a wind machine?
The people on the Adobe forum who have been helping me to realise the chained loops the composer wrote in the manuscript asked for real notated examples in the repertoire.
Thanks a million!
Wind-machine notation examples
Re: Wind-machine notation examples
Check the scores for Richard Strauss' Don Quixote and Alpine Symphony.
Both are on IMSLP.

Fifth movement ("Cloudburst") of Grofé's Grand Canyon Suite.
EDIT: I just realized I had this score in my collection.
It just shows tied whole notes and dynamics.

Re: Wind-machine notation examples
Thank you but both those examples use either a wiggle line without a TR (Alpensinfonie) ...or a simple wiggle line (Don Quixote).

I am unfamiliar with this score.hautbois baryton wrote: ↑17 Sep 2025, 05:42 Fifth movement ("Cloudburst") of Grofé's Grand Canyon Suite.

Perhaps dynamics are intended as accelerating / decelerating the rotation?
Any other example more similar to what I showed above? I'm quite sure this composer didn't invent this notation.
I don't have my Karkoscha handy, though...
