Doubt with the rests

It is very fast tempo, but the TS is 4/8, the whole measure about 80, it has "modulated" from x/16 time signatures.

Now, if I use where they should be put together, I almost loose counting.  Splitting the rest into gives me exact number of sub-beats I need to comprehend.

considering it's 4/8, I also say keep the eighth rests. it seems perfectly clear to me. of course, maybe I'm an idiot and it's totally wrong, but for what it's worth, 60 years of music says it's perfectly clear.

I think you prefer the eighth rests because the emphasis on every eighth note beat creates the impression of 1/8 meter.

It is Sibelius. It moves things constantly.
I was a long-time Finale user, where I needed to put things manually.
Sibelius moves it for you, often for the worse.

I am not sure about this.
If it were 4/4 with whole note = 80, would you write all quarter rests?
4/8 is a simple quadruple meter just as 4/4 is, only with a different beat value.

I will accept being out of the flock by saying that, were I to proofread this, I would mark 8ths for grouping.

Re: Sibelius moving things (please forgive the tangent): in the last year or so, a major publisher for whom I work told me: "for every score you work on for us, turn off Magnetic Layout". Having used Sibelius with ML on for 15+ years before then, I thought it to be a quite peculiar choice. Since then, though, I completely see the reason for that. It also seems that Sibelius scores when opened on Windows machines after having been edited on a Mac have objects moving on their own and changing their positions. So that's the reason why they impose this to all their engravers, to save time on proofreading.
In my personal scores I am now doing a similar thing: ML on, then when I'm happy with the position, I select a system and do Freeze Positions, which effectively turns off ML for only those objects. I therefore get the best of both worlds.

You know you can just turn it off globally, and place everything manually, right?
