Dorico 5.1 has just been release, with a massive slew of new functions and fixes.

Of note to the engravers here (particularly John R):
  • Fixes to issues with Divisi/Unison at system end
  • New option for fingering positioning
  • Slur adjustment
  • More options for Cues, Instrument Changes
  • Additional Engraving Options for accidentals on ledger lines, ties on chords, etc, etc.
There are also Editors for Instrument Families (which affect System Text) and Instrument Sorting; Undo History, Project Statistics, improved XML export.

...and a new Orchestral sample library, plus playback for fermata, breaths and continuous gliss.! There's also new 'humanized' playback effects for polyphonic instruments, e.g. keyboards.

I just downloaded Dorico 5.1, and I am looking forward to making use of the many improvements and new options. I was amazed to see two of my recent suggestions mentioned as now available in Scoring Notes: easier lateral movement of slurs and an option to left justify fingering substitutions so the first number stacks directly over a fingering above or below. I thought these would be years down the road, if ever! The excellence achieved by Dorico illustrates what can happen when first class programmers work in complete harmony with users toward a common goal.
