Frescobaldi's Fiori musicali

Post by benwiggy »

I've been playing through Frescobaldi's Fiori musicali - keyboard music from 1635, mostly organ pieces for use in the mass.

Lovely stuff. Possibly ripe for an edition!

I see a modern edition by Baerenreiter at IMSLP. How would yours differ?

That's what I've been playing from. There's also a free edition, which is a bit far apart, but quite clear; though there are some wrong notes and the inner voices have been swapped about a bit.

The original print is written out on four staves, so there should be no doubt about the lines.

I just thought it might make a nice little project. No doubt there will be some personal choices over accidentals. The minims will be excellent, of course!

I'm sure you will do a great job. And one should never minimize the importance of the minims!
