Music Book Printing (1915) - Specimens of Music Typography

Post by Fred G. Unn »

Recently picked up a cool 1915 book titled Music Book Printing. One section depicts a few of the various movable music typefaces that were available at the time, and depicts how they would appear using the same musical examples. I found it interesting anyway so thought I'd share a few pages:

too bad the half-note is too flat so the stem doesn't connect correctly when two voices share the same pitch.

Yeah, that does look weird. I suppose you could change the voice column index then move it with the note spacing tool.

The treble clef looks similar to the Novello one, seems a style in vogue in the UK at the time.
Is this book British or American?
