I just want to share my dissatisfaction that the Pointing Hand never became the standard musical symbol for a Repeat Marker.

Nice, but is it SMuFL-compliant?

Re: The Pointing Hand
Well. The SMuFl committee seems to be aiming for utter completeness, and Ben has obviously got a valid source for that symbol, so we should probably raise an issue in the SMuFL repository!

Definitely!
In the meantime, can one import it into Dorico as a graphic so the staff lines show through?

Of course!
I suppose you could even replace one of the boring common repeat markers with this one. Oh, and apply a nice color to it!

This comment has just inspired me to create a python script that adds a sepia tint to a PDF....!
I used a character from Adobe Wood Type Ornaments font. It needs turning 45º, of course.
