Here's the original Sextus page, for comparison. (I hope I'm not overloading the forum servers) .

Wow, absolutely beautiful! No comment!benwiggy wrote: ↑14 Jul 2020, 16:25 Finally had time to finish all six parts of this Palestrina motet, each as a separate page, and I've applied a slight tint to the 'paper'.
There's only two places in all where I haven't quite matched his original line breaks: mostly problems due to the modern innovation of putting lyrics actually under the right syllable.

Hi benwiggy,
Nice work, bravo!
Here's the LP output (with settings to stick to the facsimile, not perfect but actually my very first attempt with ancient notation):
The coding (you can test it here, special fonts excluded):
[Edit] Change clef end accidental glyphs.
Nice work, bravo!
Some questions: why not keeping the double key signature? Why not keeping the stem direction? And the staff size? Are they personal choices?

Nicely done, benwiggy and Schneider! Both look really excellent!

If Dorico or Petrucci had Dorico, wouldn’t they use a smaller paper or larger font size?
Re: If Dorico had Dorico...
I think they'd use larger font size since those were meant to be read even in the dimness and even by old eyes.
And what if Frescobaldi had Frescobaldi?...

Ben, really cool!!
Where did you find big D sign/image??

Re: If Dorico had Dorico...
It's a font: Goudy Initials.
Well, yes, I could have matched the paper size, and staff size, and various other details. I haven't done ligatures, either. Some of the glyphs in my font don't really match.
I didn't really plan to make a facsimile, but just a little bit of fun of how to approach that style of notation using software that's designed for totally different rules of notation.
Some years ago, I made a '16th-century score' (in Finale), in which similar partbook notation was presented as a score, without barlines.
https://ancientgroove.co.uk/freebies/ta ... vator1.pdf
That was intended to be a satire on the folly of unnecessarily preserving archaic notation when producing a supposedly 'modern' edition.

Ben, would you consider the double key signature as a mistake?
(I really thought it has its interest with this type of clef... Not sure any more though.)
